Ford left a mark in customers’ mind with its premium SUV Endeavour when it ventured in Indian market, however the spotlight was stolen by other sizable offerings in the segment dimming Endeavour’s gleam. Back with a vengeance, the SUV gets a series of upgrades raising the bar for rivals around. Visually, the SUV looks bigger in terms of stance and better in context of styling.A strong dose of update has been bestowed upon interiors and there is a prominent transformation on the space front. Equipment list is rich and on par with competitors, yes there are a few setbacks but not as eminent to overlap the good work done by Ford. Hands-down a much better package, but with rivals getting overhauled question remains what is it that may allure customers to buy a Ford, could it be pricing or the cabin comfort or the masculine posture or the performance.

New Ford Endeavour Exterior
Appearing longer, the new Endeavour has a burgeoning semblance and frankly it goes well with the SUVs persona. Design has matured gracefully; the chiselled wide bonnet in front comes with subtle lines. Front profile is imposing as it gets chrome radiator grille and lean head lights. The lower bumper gets large silver treated skid plates and small rectangular fog lamps flanking the petite air intakes. Wheel arches are massive, but the space left between arches and tyres spoil the side view and dwarf the large 18 inch wheels. A side stepper, black finished window frame, chrome treated outside door handles, chrome finished outside rear view mirrors and supporting crease class up the entire look from side. Rear is designed equally well as the other facets. The slightly protruding tail gate works well and the short wind-screen lends it a modish touch. Moreover, the wrap-around tail lamps, integrated spoiler, chrome garnish on boot lid, body painted bumpers and silver skid plates on the lower bumper enclosing fog lamps accentuate the rear styling.

The dual tone dash looks chic and the quality of material used ups the level, however on the lower side it seems as if Ford compromised in terms of quality, but on the whole the cabin looks plush. Fine black leather is draped on the upper side of dash, around the steering wheel and gear knob. Besides, the piano black finish is visible on the central console which gets a fairly large touch-screen with long mounted vertical AC vents equipped on sides. As we come down, the console features buttons and dials for temperature. The floor console has various other buttons allowing functioning of prominent equipment. There is an integrated cup-holder and cabin features dual glove box providing ample space for storage. Instrument cluster is large with a big speedometer and aplenty other gizmos for providing necessary information to the driver. Leg room is quite comfortable in front and second row seats, for that matter even the third row seats are well spaced offering decent leg space. Boot space doubles up by folding the third row seats which provides generous space for luggage storage.
New Endeavour Engine Specifications & Transmission
The all diesel engine line-up comes with a choice of two powertrains, a 2.2 litre diesel motor and a 3.2 litre diesel mill. Available in two-wheel and all-wheel drive variants, the 2.2 litre, four cylinder diesel engine makes 160PS at 3200rpm along with 385Nm between 1600rpm to 2500rpm. The engine comes with an option of a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox. On the other hand the 3.2 litre, five cylinder diesel engine is good for 200PS of peak power at 3000rpm along with 470Nm of torque between 1750rpm to 2500rpm. Drive is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic tranny, the two wheel drive and manual gearbox option are not available with this engine.

Vital fitments featuring outside are fog lamps in front, mud flaps in front/rear, body painted bumpers in front/rear, silver finished skid plates, roof rails, side stepper, chrome finished door handles/wing mirrors, turn indicators on outer mirror, LED tail lamps with LED daytime running lights and rear spoiler with high mounted stop lamp. Inside the large cabin the three rows are well spaced, up front bucket seats are fixed and an arm rest is placed in the centre featuring a storage compartment. In the second row, 60:40 tip & slide, fold seats with reclining function are affixed. Third row comes with 50:50 flat fold seats which allow creating generous space at back when required. Moreover the second row gets LED map lamps and third row comes with LED dome lamps. Driver’s seat can be operated electrically, door handles in front are chrome finished and there is an option for multi-coloured ambient lighting along with scuff plates with graphics.
New Endeavour Performance & Mileage
Of the two engines, the lower displacement 2.2 litre diesel motor is more efficient, easily pulling off playful performance. On the contrary the 3.2 litre engine seems stiff and uneasy, despite the noise cancellation system it develops fair amount of noise. Moreover the six-speed auto box doesn’t respond well, hence clearly letting the manual take lead.
New Endeavour Accessories & Infotainment
Ford has incorporated a SYNC system with voice control and a TFT touch screen is also fitted inside. An integrated active noise cancellation device enables to keep the cabin quiet. Music can also be played through FM/AM radio system, AUX-In, USB ports (dual), CD and MP3 player. Cabin gets 10 integrated speakers and Bluetooth connectivity.
New Ford Endeavour Braking & Handling
Braking power is provided by a set of disc brakes fitted in front and rear. Besides, the SUV comes with anti-lock-braking system with electronic brake force distribution, electronic stability program and traction control to further bolster the braking action. Ride and handling is impressive, the humongous SUV is agile and the active electric steering wheel takes on all challenges confidently. Suspension is smooth too and manages to balance the vehicle on almost all types of surfaces.

Cushioning passengers from all sides are multiple airbags employed in front for driver and co-passenger along with sidebags, curtain bags and driver keen bag. Ford Endeavour Comfort & Convenience
With all these changes, the icing on the cake remains the additional contemporary features included for the comfort of the passenger and mind you there are many of them such as remote keyless entry, central locking, front & rear power windows, tilt adjustable steering, dual horn, one touch up/down with anti-pinch, power foldable and adjustable ORVMs and rear parking sensors. A dual zone climate control system curbs the temperature inside. And if you thought this is it, then wait as there is more to it, considering the large room inside for seating, Ford has provided separate ac vents mounted on ceiling of second and third rows along with a rear air conditioner switch. Steering gets mounted controls for altering audio system along with a voice control functionality. There is a rear camera with display on centre screen. Power lift gate with anti-pinch sensors is one of the rear features found in this segment.
